Here’s everything you need to know about The Equalizer Season 3- cast, release date, plot, and much more.

Is William Bishop Returning To The Equalizer?

The Equalizer follows the story of a woman named Robyn who is a former CIA operative and looks like a typical single mother. She’s raising her daughter Delilah (played by Layla DeLeon Hayes) while living with her aunt Viola (played by Lorraine Toussaint).

She looks like a typical single mother but in actuality, she lives a double life working as an undercover who defends those who have no place else to go. The Equalizer Season 1 introduced the protagonist Robyn McCall as a former CIA agent who helps the poor and downtrodden correct their wrongs. There’s Detective Marcus Dante (Tory Kittles) whose only motive is to discover the identity of this unknown urban Robin Hood.

The season ended with Delilah discovering what her mother actually does and it is not “running an international nonprofit.” The Equalizer Season 3 will come out on Sunday, 2nd of Oct 2022 at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

The Equalizer Season 3 Release Date

The announcement for the official return of The Equalizer Season 3 was made in May this year. Season 4 was also announced along with season 3. The reason for a two-season renewal was the series being named Sunday’s no. 1 scripted series while averaging 9.4 million viewers. The Equalizer Season 3 will premiere on CBS on Oct 2,2022 a Sunday obviously, at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Senior executive vice president of programming at CBS Entertainment, Thom Sherman said that the reason for the success of The Equalizer is the storytelling which is a mix of everyday justice, family situations, and real-world problems that connect and resonate with the audience.

The Equalizer Season 3 Plot

Robyn is joined by her longtime friend and a former CIA handler (played by Christopher Noth), a paranoid and brilliant white-hat hacker (played by Adam Goldberg), and a past colleague and an edgy bar owner (played by Liza Lapira). Season 2 continued with Robyn’s vigilante justice with Dante helping her out all along. Dante finds himself disillusioned with the badge after being profiled, kidnapped, and beaten by the white cops and turns in his badge.

The ending of The Equalizer Season 2 can be called a cliffhanger because while driving with her aunt viola and daughter Delilah, Robyn was hit by a car. While they tried to get to safety, Robyn was rushed by two assailants who put a hood over her head and threw her in the SUV. Delilah and her aunt viola tried to stop them but failed. But with no doubt, they are expected to play a role in her rescuing along with the ‘Equalizer’ team.

The Equalizer Season 3 Cast

The Equalizer Season 3 cast members include:

Actor Christopher Noth, who played a series regular by the name of William Bishop, will not be coming back to the show as he is facing serious allegations of sexual assault since December 2021.

Another interesting news for the Equalizer fans is the return of Jada Pinkett Smith, who portrayed master thief Jessie Cook during the season and is now coming back in season 3.

Also, mostly all the major players are returning for the 3rd season of the equalizer. The Grammy-award-winning rapper Queen Latifah has starred in movies like hustle, Hollywood, Beauty Shop, Living Single, Star, and many other different projects. She will be starring along with Lorraine Toussaint who has worked in Orange is the New Black, Laya DeLeon Hayes (from Raven’s Home), Liza Lapira (from Nancy Drew), Adam Goldberg (from God Friended Me), and Tory Kittles (from Harriet).

The Equalizer Season 3 The Talk On Social Media

upon the announcement of the release date for the equalizer, fans responded with comments like “we haven’t forgotten about the cliffhanger”, and “eager to know about what happened to McCall.” The audience is patiently waiting for the drop of next season.

What To Expect From The Equalizer Season 3?

Fans should not expect Robyn to escape her current kidnapping so soon as the show is renewed not for just one season but two. So, the writers expect to take their sweet time in completing the storylines without feeling rushed. The audience should not be surprised with Robyn stays at a disadvantage for some episodes. The series is inspired by the 1980’s series of the same name which starred Edward Woodward as the protagonist.

There is a possibility of Denzel Washington making a guest appearance, as he was the star of The Equalizer film franchise. When Latifah was asked about this she said, “who knows what’s gonna happen, but I am looking forward to whatever he has to bring to the table because I know what he can do when he gets in the zone.” She added “I’m going to keep portraying TV’s McCall and let him rock the film franchise and we’ll both continue to deliver.

Fans should not expect the return of Chris Noth, who plays Robyn’s CIA contact and confidante William Bishop as he is off the show after facing some serious sexual assault allegations. His character’s absence was initially explained as some overseas undercover work that required Bishop to go radio silent but he was later killed off. This was the deed of Mason Quinn (Chris Vance) a sociopath that had tried to kill McCall in the past and now attacked the plane Bishop was in.
