Today, on the occasion of #HashtagDay, Twitter released the top hashtags in several categories.
Surprisingly, Thala Ajith’s Valimai was India’s most tweeted hashtag in the first half of 2021.
It was followed by another Tamil superstar’s smash film, Master, starring Vijay.
Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata finished in third place, adding to the widespread popularity of south films and performers.

Twitter, in particular, looked at data from January 1 to June 30 of this year.
And two Tamil films occupied the top two spots.
Ajith Kumar himself debuted in fourth place, followed by Vijay’s Thalapathy 65. (later titled as Beast).
Another endorsement to the south industry came in the form of Pawan Kalyan’s Telugu film Vakeel Saab, which came in 10th place.

Fans of the Billa actress were naturally overjoyed to see her name at the top of Twitter trends. Today, the hashtag #AjithkumarVALIMAITopsTwitter began trending.
According to one user, “there has been no single update until the end of June Month and still, #Valimai tops the list of (the) most tweeted hashtag in India.”
Another fan applauded their favourite for having such a strong internet presence despite the lack of an official social media handle.
Today, Ajith fans have taken over trends as well. At the time of writing, the top three trends were all about the Vivegam star.
There were also some fan conflicts between Vijay and Ajith fans.
One Bigil fan stated that they are “waiting for final counting,” implying that Master would surpass Valimai in the overall standings before the end of the year.
