Panaji: Due to increasing cases of Coronavirus, it has been decided to impose a complete lockdown in Goa. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced this on Wednesday. He said that there would be a lockdown in the state from April 7 to May 3 in the morning. During this time, everything except essential services and industrial activities will be closed. Required services will be allowed in lockdown.
Public transport will be closed across the state during the lockdown period. No one will be forbidden to leave the house without any need. Along with this, casinos, hotels and pubs will also be closed. At the same time, restaurants will only be allowed to operate their kitchen for home delivery. State boundaries will remain open for essential services.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, “People need not panic.” All grocery stores and essential services will be allowed to operate. At the same time, I also urge the migrant labourers not to leave the state. ” Sawant told a press conference in Panaji that detailed guidelines will be released today. Sawant said, “If people do not step out of the house for the next four days, then we will be able to break the chain of corona infection.”
Tourists already present in the state will not be allowed to move out of their hotel and have to stay there during the lockdown period. The government has also announced that many areas will be declared as Containment Zone.
Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Monday that saving lives is more important than economic activities. He advocated a lockdown given the rising corona cases and the increase in deaths due to Kovid-19.
According to the Union Health Ministry, there are currently 16,591 active Kovid cases in Goa, and 1086 people have died due to this epidemic. While so far, 64,231 have been successful in defeating the deadly virus. On Sunday, 2,293 new Kovid cases have been registered in Goa, which is the largest ever. While 2,110 new cases of infection were reported in the state on Tuesday, and 31 more infected died.
